GTTR08: SPITEFUL WOMB “Mirrorgazing” C22 

Spiteful Womb has been releasing tapes for a few years, but it wasn’t until I heard recordings from MAPS Fest 2018 and the December 2018 tape “Grey Chambers” on Disclosures (one of my most listened to tapes of 2019) that I really started to take notice of the expert level of building synths and gritty noise to create morbid atmospheres that she can conjure. 

“Mirrorgazing” explores the overlapping concepts of body dysmorphia and scrying. Using reflections to find what you’re looking for and lose what is there. Mutation, suffering, fractured barrier between mind and body. Six tracks of restrained and ugly power electronics, twisted and disorienting synths and decayed, harsh and mutilated noises. Nora created 2 color collages (including cover) for this release and provided some source material for me to manipulate in the layout. Each tape also comes with a handmade mirror.  // $7.00

GTTR09: STRIATIONS “Trauma Code 2” C60

It’s been just over a year since the first “Trauma Code” was released. This is the next installment in this series. This time more focused, structured and methodical. Rather than 2 sidelong collections, TC2 is arranged into concept pieces varying in sounds from shrieking feedback, clanging and crushing metal abuse and harsh noise blasting aggression. Well-placed found sounds and samples, scraps of all types put into a grinder for a cut-up maelstrom, and foreboding segues that make you wonder if it’s you that the first responders are coming to collect off the road. 

There’s been a lot of behind the scenes trading between Mike and me: photos of blood and brains on the asphalt, sound sources, custom contact microphones, etc. The year that went into all of this resulted in a much stronger release than I expected, not b-sides, but a deeper meditation of vehicular slaughter and first-hand horror of bodies tested by force and inertia. In the shadow of Trauma Code 2, TC1 seems almost like a warm-up.

Last Monday, New Forces released the newest Body Carve effort. Truly honored to have a tape under the banner of another friend and respected harsh head.

"Guts in Red Plastic" OUT NOW

GTTR07: "Guts in Red Plastic" is two 21-minute slabs of blown out crash and crunch, thin blades and sharp feedback. Relentless harsh noise attack. The base sound sources are the result of a necropsy performed/ documented by N. Desuah:

"...For over 20 minutes, I mangled and mutilated the organs while listening to the amplified, wet mush of the bloody innards and the crackle of the plastic as the sounds recorded to tape. These recordings were created by amplifying and overdriving the respective source recordings and supplementing with raw and distorted junk metal sounds as they played..."

This tape comes with artwork that is rearranged/restructured from the full size, special edition including full color collage and info insert (both mostly of original photos from the recorded procedure). Type I tapes dubbed real time in a norelco box.

Also available is a small restock of The Vomit Arsonist "Further" c42 that I put out last Spring. Also there is a store option on the "Guts..." page to buy the Body Carve / Slit Throats split c20 (phage tapes) as a bundle for $13 (2 left). Just trying to make it easy since the tape is almost OOP.

This special edition of the tape comes housed in a VHS box with wraparound full color collage and color insert (both mostly of original photos from the recorded procedure), background info insert, and other bonus visuals.  Artwork in this version is exact size of original collages, and prints are quite vivid.  Special edition will ONLY be available via pre-order, made to order and numbered.  The regular edition for order and distribution will have resized artwork and layout to fit in a standard norelco box.  Both on black, type 1 tapes, dubbed in real time.

GTTR05: Once again Striations delivers another huge slab of thematic industrial noise. “Trauma Code” is a violent car wreck and its aftermath… nightmare of the first responder… white coveralls and and rubber gloves erasing the blood-stained roads. The tape is 48 minutes of dark groaning synths, mangled scrap metal and ear-ringing feedback.
Full color insert (featuring an Adam Medford collage) for the gore fetishist. Also included is an 8x10” (almost A4) double sided collage by Gutter Bloat. Content and carnage to pore over while listening. Highly directed and focused in sound and package. Mondo industrial for dulled senses that need a jolt!

GTTR06: This summer, Zusammenbruch did a very short, personal run of “Alterations & New Beginnings” limited to 25 tapes. I felt the tape was solid enough to require a broader audience. Zusammenbruch follows a string of excellent cassettes with another 20 minutes of tightly executed industrial/PE. Distorted looping samples and decayed, gritty sounds… lofi and sickening at times, sharp attack at others. Tape remaster and new artwork by Gutter Bloat.
